We do apprenticeships right

Many organisations offer apprenticeships, but we really believe in them. Done properly, they can set people up for life. Which is why we’re proud to offer apprenticeships for every hourly paid role in our Premier Inn hotels and our Restaurants and in our Support Centre. So – assuming you work over 16 hours a week – you can choose to enrol, get paid, and pick up nationally-recognised qualifications along the way. Earning while you’re learning. When people talk about apprenticeships that’s the kind of thing you’ll hear. But is that really enough? Learning, yes. Earning, yes: with the same pay as your team mates from Day One. But what about taking responsibility, gaining confidence, developing life skills and being motivated to do more and progress in a permanent job that doesn’t end when your apprenticeship is served? Now that’s a proper apprenticeship. See how Housekeeper Kyra found an apprenticeship more than just a qualification.

Our apprenticeships

We offer apprenticeships in our hotels and restaurants and our Support Centre, together with our partners Lifetime Training.

Hotels and restaurants

Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship (Level 2). In the operation we have a nominations page (England only) so at site level a learner can apply for an apprenticeship directly with their provider. This means that a learner can choose the apprenticeship that is correct for their role and development and can go through eligibility and get a start date quickly with the provider. In devolved nations, we have form on SharePoint that is managed internally that provides the providers in nation the learner information to start the nomination process.

Support Centre

Degree-Level Apprenticeships (Level 3 to Level 6). In Support Centre, we have widened our apprenticeship offer to support the development of technical skills. We now offer over 20 different apprenticeship qualifications available to our teams, including areas such a Marketing, Data and Software Engineering. The process includes an application form on Sharepoint that is managed centrally. We then organise a meeting with the individual and their manager. If the apprenticeship fits with the individuals personal and career development plans, we organise the eligibility call with the provider who will start the application process.

Meet Fabian

We piloted a Support Centre Apprenticeship Programme, aimed at local talent who study for a degree level qualification whilst working in different placements within specific functions. We asked Support Centre Apprentice Fabian to give us a run through what his course is like and how he’s finding it.
