We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Cloud Ops, where you’ll be responsible for leadership & management, governance, strategy, delivery, budgeting, finance and administration of the Whitbread Cloud Operations Estate.

This role manages the group that has specific responsibility for building or configuring, maintaining or enhancing, and eventually decommissioning cloud components through the life cycle. This includes responsibility for the life cycle planning through selection, operation, refresh, migration, management, optimisation, retirement and disposal.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead Cloud Operations Centre of Excellence.  
  • Develop the strategic run change agenda and prioritised roadmap for the applications and associated services. Defines with the Business & IT Portfolio to lead the Strategic Business Change roadmap (including ownership of the planned Cloud platform changes).
  • Overall accountability for the management of production and non-production environments in the public and private cloud, including refreshes, changes, patches, test and defect management.
  • Overseeing the assessment of the cloud platform and application roadmap.
  • Engage with CTO function to ensure product and technical alignment to architecture strategy.
  • Work with the CISO to ensure that Cloud Operations are effectively secured and that risks are mitigated
  • Develop and enhance methodologies and practices for the virtual maintenance life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that virtual maintenance processes (including those of external service providers) are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, environmental and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation.
  • Manage Cloud Ops CoE resources, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organisation, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skills gaps.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure the function works in a way that improves the business and technical fitness of the portfolio and minimises its ongoing support costs.
  • Reviews, accepts new releases of applications software from systems development staff or software suppliers.
  • Facilitate governance processes to arrive at a prioritised set of measurable business outcomes that Cloud Ops and virtual maintenance must support.
  • Ensure Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity tests are planned and agreed with Oracle and the wider business community and manage the execution of such tests within Whitbread.

 

What we’d like you to have:

  • Leadership experience of a team in Cloud platform management environment, including environment management, integration, patching, release management.
  • Solid experience in application architecture, project management, software-as-a-service, cloud platforms, integration, automated software testing, data management/governance,
  • Demonstrable leadership experience building cross-organisational consensus with exposure to technology providers and/or business clients.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage 3rd Parties and Tier 1 Vendors,
  • Proven experience of managing change cycles,
  • Experience of managing service,
  • Knowledge and understanding of:
    • Oracle Fusion (Financials),
    • OBIA,
    • Public/Private Cloud technologies, environments, and integration,
    • Hyperion Financial Management.
  • Ideally have some understanding of:
    • Microsoft Office 365 product set
    • Workday HCM,
    • Amadeus PMS/CMS.
